Sentinel Rocks at Moonrise, Blue Creek Canyon
An old ranch house sits in the mouth of this beautiful canyon at the foot of the Chisos Mountains The sentinels remind us of the time when Big Bend was a grassland, not a desert. This was a planned photograph in that I knew Sandra Lynn had written a poem about these rocks for our book, "Where Rainbows Wait for Rain," and so wanted to catch the moon in just the right position.
